A Calming Atmosphere for Mild Anxiety
Many people experience dental anxiety that may not prevent them from getting a minimum level of dental care, but they don’t want to spend any more time at the dentist than necessary. You may be avoiding cosmetic dentistry procedures that could really help you get the smile you’ve always wanted. We can help you feel comfortable at the dentist so it’s easy for you to get routine care and consider advanced cosmetic dentistry that will improve your smile and your quality of life.
At the San Diego office of cosmetic dentist Dr. Strober, we focus on bringing a calming environment to dentistry. When you enter our practice, you’ll be struck by how much our office doesn’t feel like a dental practice. We offer patients comfort measures like soft pillows, warm towels and blankets, headphones, and a beverage bar. Your total comfort during treatment will have a calming effect so you will feel relaxed in a way you’ve never felt at the dentist before.
Sedation Dentistry for More Serious Anxiety
Even with our calming spa environment, some patients still have trouble relaxing. Patients with moderate to severe dental anxiety may need more help being calm at the dentist’s office. As a sedation dentist, Dr. Strober believes that every patient should be anxiety-free, so he offers conscious sedation dentistry.
During conscious sedation, you will be awake and aware of your environment, but you will be relaxed and free of anxiety. Dr. Strober offers three methods for conscious sedation dentistry: conscious oral sedation, nitrous oxide, and intravenous (IV) sedation.
Conscious oral sedation dentistry consists of a pill or two that you take before you come to your dental appointment. When you arrive at your appointment, you will feel relaxed. Nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, is an inhaled sedative. When you arrive at your appointment, you will be set up with a mask that allows you to inhale the gas along with oxygen to put you in a relaxed state. IV sedation introduces relaxing medication into your bloodstream.
We can talk to you about the benefits of each sedation method and help you decide which is right for you.
