Dental lasers let you enjoy a more comfortable, less invasive dental experience. Lasers have been used in dentistry since the 1990s to treat gums and other soft tissues of the mouth. Tissues can be reshaped and removed painlessly and quickly with laser energy.
Dental lasers can be used for many procedures and treatments, including:
- Gum disease therapy
- Tooth decay removal
- Gum recontouring
- Lesion and growth removal
Laser dentistry requires less anesthetic than other techniques, and typically less pain and discomfort is felt after the treatment. When used by an experienced dentist, these lasers are safe and effective. A laser vaporizes or cuts tissue with a narrow, focused beam of light. A topical anesthetic is often the only numbing agent needed for a laser treatment. Lasers can often be used instead of a dental drill, which cause some patients to feel anxious and uncomfortable.
At Dr. Rod Strober’s dental practice, we use the EZlase laser and other dental technology to provide our patients with gentler dental care.
