Dental Emergency: The Case of the Missing Toothbrush

You’ve probably been away from home a lot of times — maybe you’re out camping or you probably ended up at a friend’s house after partying the night away. You just want to brush your teeth only to find out that you forgot to take your toothbrush with you. So now what? The San Diego dental team recommends some very useful quick tips and strategies below!

Brushing With a Paper Cloth and Toothpaste

It is very possible for to brush your teeth with just a packet or tube of toothpaste at hand. Try looking for a tiny paper towel and squeeze a dab of toothpaste in it. Afterwards, wrap a finger around the paper towel and scrape the plaque off your teeth through a back and forth motion of your fingers. You might want to lightly scrape your tongue as well. Lastly, rinse your mouth thoroughly by swishing water back and forth in your mouth.

Brushing Without Toothbrush and Toothpaste

It won’t be called “brushing” without the toothbrush and toothpaste, right? Anyway, if you find yourself empty handed (running low on mouthwash and floss), use your hands!

Wash your hands and avoid drying them. Rub your teeth and gums with your wet fingers and cover as many areas as you can. Rinse your mouth through a strong swish of water.

 Other Tips and Tricks

1. Hotels and other accommodation facilities could actually provide you with several dental supplies if you don’t have them to hand. Simply ask for it!

2. When you’re out in the woods, a twig might just save the day. Before using them, consider cleaning them thoroughly by chewing on the end fibers. Now you’ve got an instant toothbrush!
