Invisalign® vs. Traditional Braces
Serving San Diego, La Jolla, and Coronado
Both Invisalign and traditional metal braces can effectively treat a wide range of teeth alignment problems and bite conditions for a comparable cost. But the similarities end there.
A consultation with Dr. Rod Strober, an Invisalign Premier Provider who has corrected more than 250 orthodontic cases without the use of traditional metal braces, will determine if you’re a candidate to enjoy the confidence and health benefits of a properly aligned smile without the pain and distractions of brackets and wires.
Comfort Equals Joy
Invisalign aligners are composed of smooth plastic, and each aligner is custom-made to fit snugly over your teeth. There is no sharp metal to irritate your cheeks, lips and gums.
Even better, there are no painful tightenings or adjustments necessary with Invisalign. Approximately every two weeks, you simply swap your old aligners for a new set in the progressive series that will lead you to your new smile.
Eat, Drink and Be Merry
With metal braces, the list of what you can’t eat and drink seems longer than the list of what you can. With Invisalign, nothing is off limits.
Because Invisalign aligners are removable, there are no brackets and wires to trap food particles. So go ahead and have popcorn with your movie; take a bite out of your favorite fruit; or pop a handful of peanuts.
Easy to Clean
Braces capture bits of food, which can increase plaque buildup, cause tooth discoloration and contribute to other dental problems. They can also snare the bristles of your toothbrush, making good oral hygiene a frustrating chore.
With Invisalign, however, cleaning your teeth and aligners is as easy as 1-2-3: 1) Slip off your removable aligners 2) Brush your teeth and clean your aligners with the Invisalign Cleaning Kit or a toothbrush and lukewarm water 3) Pop your aligners back in place.
Free Time
Traditional metal braces require office visits for tightening, in many cases every three or four weeks. Invisalign aligners don’t require painful adjustments, and they limit your follow-up appointments to approximately every six weeks.
Not only does Invisalign give you more free time, but your office visits are typically brief and aimed at simply monitoring your progress.
Stealthy Straightening
As its name implies, Invisalign is virtually invisible as it brings your teeth into proper alignment. The clear, plastic aligners fit over your teeth with no protrusions, and most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them.
Readily Replaceable
Should one of your Invisalign aligners become lost or damaged, it is easily replaceable. Your dental professional will maintain your teeth impressions, which are used to create your aligners.
